JADEN SMITH |
Jaden
Smith, 17, son of actor, Will Smith recently took part in a photo shoot for the
Louis Vuitton Spring 2016 women’s wear campaign covered by ace fashion
photographer, Bruce Weber in which Jaden was presented as the label's new face.
In
the exhibition held this week, Jaden put on a pleated skirt, a typical female
vest and a leather top while taking the shots with three female models.
Good
enough the pictures were loved and found acceptable by those who viewed them and
Jaden was held bold for breaking down the existing gender roles. He was praised
for going against the norm. In his photo shoot, the message he passed was
clear, that a skirt was only a piece of wear and its use was not to be strictly
assigned to one sex or the other.
One
of his sure supporters was his sister, Willow 15, who expressed her being down
with it by posting a picture of Jaden in the role and the message “Males and
females are put into boxes of expectation when we are born. As we grow we start
to raise the damages that those expectations cause to our spiritual and
emotional understanding of ourselves and life.”
Some questioned
the stereotype asking “What is the problem that Jaden Smith's the new face of
Louis Vuitton woman's wear?? What even is a woman wear??? All I see is CLOTHES.
Jaden Smith commenting
further said “the more we start to realize that we
are all the same and infinitely different at the same time, the more we begin
to shed those expectations and live free to continue to uplift the essence of
Earth.”
Two of a kind you would say! Both are
known for being a little odd in the past. Jaden has
over time been known to believe in and promote the gender fluid idea and has
many times in the past put on skirts and dresses on outings including attending
his high school prom.
