Law enforcement authorities in California report that a suspected burglar who became stuck in the chimney of a house in Central California was killed after the owner of the house in the rural town of Huron ignorantly put up a fire in the fireplace.
The owner of the house called in the authorities after he heard someone scream after lighting a fire in his fireplace on Saturday afternoon. He said when he found out there was someone stuck in the chimney he put out the fire.
Mr. Tony Botti Fresno, the County Sheriff's spokesman said an autopsy obtained on Sunday showed that the suspect, Cody Caldwell 19, died as a result of smoke inhalation and burns.
Officer Lieutenant Brandon Pursell stated that Caldwell was responsive when fire-fighters smashed the chimney to get to him but he died when they reached him
