The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that supporters of James Faleke, running mate to the late Prince Abubakar Audu and Yahaya Bello, his runner up in the party primaries yesterday, Monday clashed at the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.

The death of Prince Audu on November 22, resulted in a need to replace the party's candidate in the state’s governorship election which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared inconclusive and ordered fresh elections in 5 local government areas of the Kogi state. These two men are now locked in a battle as to who will contest on the platform of the APC for the Kogi state government house.
Information has it that supporters of Bello arrived at the party’s secretariat at 11:30 a.m. chanting "Sai Yahaya Bello" while those for Faleke arrived an hour later and both groups started to attack themselves with stones ‎and sticks before police reinforcement arrived the scene. Their weapons of war were seen all over the scene when peace was restored.
This was after the police succeeded in confining the two groups to the extreme ends of the street‎ where their members continued to chant solidarity songs.
The fracas left properties destroyed such as vehicle windows which were broken.
The party’s National Working Committee members and some of its leaders of APC, including Governor Nasir El-rufai of Kaduna State and Senator Dino Melaye were seen holding an emergency meeting at the secretariat towards resolving the matter.
