THINGS COME TO A HEAD BETWEEN OLAMIDE AND DON JAZZY AT THE 2015 HEADIES AWARD HELD YESTERDAY

HEADIES 2015
There was a Kanye West kind of reaction from Olamide, CEO of YBNL when his protégé Lil Kesh failed to get the Next Rated Artiste award at yesterday's 2015 edition of the Headies Award held at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

The reaction came as a result of the choice of Reekado Banks and his Katapot track as winner, Reekado is a member of the Mavin Records group owned by super producer Don Jazzy who has always made stars of his signed on musicians like Tiwa Savage, Koredo Bello, etc. The award attracts a brand new Hyundai car as one of its trappings.

Then came the presentation of the Best Alternative Song won by Adekunle Gold a member of YBNL, for his Sade song and the whole crew led by Olamide escorted him to the stage to collect his headie. Olamide would not miss the chance to let all know what he felt about the Next Rated Artiste Award which many thought would go to Lil Kesh. He said the award was rightfully Lil Kesh's as his songs had been hits back to back all year round. He made a scene going on to throw his drink on the stage before leaving with his members in tow.

Not to miss a return jab, Don Jazzy on his mounting the stage to receive his Special Recognition award stated that he did not like awards and only came to the show to support his record label members, Reekado and Korede who were both nominated for the Next Rated Artiste award, he went to say that he had before now promised to buy them cars. He rounded his address by calling on Olamide to come and get the car won by Reekado if he so desired. He then left the venue with members of the Mavin group who came with him.

The event was the 10th edition of the annual show held to celebrate Nigerian musicians who have made a mark in the year ending and this one was hosted by the comedian Bovi and queen of dance Kaffy, who just returned from the 2015 Carnival Calabar.
