SENATOR BEN MURRAY-BRUCE PROFFERS ADVICE FOR NIGERIA’S GREATNESS IN 2016 BY MAKING IT THE YEAR OF COMMONSENSE

SENATOR BEN MURRAY-BRUCE
The Senator representing Bayelsa East , Senator Ben Murray-Bruce who is ever active be it on social media or live activities and ofcourse on the floor of the hallowed chambers of the Nigerian Senate is always an interesting individual to watch out for, what with his flair to bring out solutions using commonsense (which by the way is in short supply this days)for the good of the country.
Well, he is never lacking in this field and again he recently proffered some to start the New Year in 2016, which he has proposed should be #TheYearofCommonsense. Follow his ideas below.

The Senator says Nigerians should question the government why it is that the powerful government officials are the ones accused of looting public funds yet its the powerless ordinary people whose ATM transactions are restricted. He says there is need to ask why the government should be able to restrict how a citizen spends his/her hard earned money that is not the proceed of corruption?

Senator Murray-Bruce says Nigerians should in 2016 demand that those elected to leadership position change things rather than blame those who lost the elections to them for their inability to change things.

He says in 2016, the government should ensure they achieve real victories against Boko Haram Islamists insurgents and other enemies of the nation rather than technical victories.

He also advised that the Nigerian youths in 2016 work together for a better future rather than engaging in fighting each other for politicians gains which never last.

The Senator further calls for all and sundry to ensure that 2016 is a year of full and total Freedom of Speech and advises those working against this to bury forever any thought of censoring Social Media users in the country by any means whatsoever.

He calls on the President Buhari administration to ensure its promise to pay job seekers an allowance of ₦5000 per month is materialized in 2016 and not rationalized. He says the payment is a possibility and in response to those who say the Federal Government should not pay ₦5k Job Seekers Allowance because it is too small, he tells them that if they don't need it, others do.

Senator Murray-Bruce says 2016 should be a year where all stand up against any plot by the Governors to reduce the workers minimum wage which he believes is less than what they spend on their dogs meals.

The distinguished Senator also says this year the practice where fuel sells at official price at Ikoyi & Abuja but above the official price in the hinterlands should not be allowed to continue.

Speaking on the perceived bias fight on corruption, he frowns at the situation where the Peoples Democratic Party members are washed free from corruption once they decamp to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Senator Ben Murray-Bruce asks that in 2016 the Government should ensure that whatever is started is concluded and not left in a state of inconclusiveness.

Sure enough these points seem so commonsense but you find out that there is no effort made to work in line with such as a guide for the better good of the common man. You rather find a situation where policies enunciated and implemented rather bring about hardship for the common man and scuttle our progress as a nation. Can we all make an effort in our little way to ensure we contribute to emancipation of all of us?
