SENATOR BEN MURRAY BRUCE ON NIGERIA'S MINIMUM WAGE AGAIN

SEN. BEN MURRAY BRUCE
The Senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial district, Sen. Ben Murray Bruce has again spoken on the issue of the National Minimum Wage.

Commenting on his twitter handle, he called on the nation's leaders not only to expect the minimum wage earners to make sacrifices but also to be ready to make sacrifices of their own.

He called for the masses to unite and demand to know from the governors why they can't pay those on minimum wage but do not complain about those who earn the maximum wage. He noted that the best security a nation can have is a well paid workforce, just as he reminded the governors that they would need the masses to return to office at the end of their tenure. He also made an analysis on the current minimum wage of N18,000 was instituted when the dollar was exchanging for N140 but it is presently exchanging for N251.

Sen. Murray Bruce in another development, in his contribution to the Nigerian project is sponsoring a Bill for the establishment of a National Alternative Energy Commission which aims to provide power for all Nigerians from alternative sources. The Bill provides for the payment of a maximum of N30,000 for each individual home to build an alternative energy source.

What is your take on this?
