SENATOR BEN MURRAY-BRUCE OFFERS GOVERNMENT IN NIGERIA SOME MORE COMMONSENSE ADVISE

SENATOR BEN MURRAY-BRUCE

Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, the representative of the Bayelsa East (PDP) in the Nigerian Senate is at it again. This time he takes on the some economic policy decisions of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration just as he tries to explain the consequences of such decision as well proffer some solutions.

He goes on to advise that the government should the search for solutions rather than cast blames on the past administration as being responsible for problems presently plaguing the country. The Senator reminds the government that it was not elected to find faults but to solve them and warns that the government cannot sustain itself on propaganda which can only last for a while before the people know better.

Senator Murray-Bruce picks on the restriction recently placed on the use of ATM cards by Nigerians abroad which he views as a situation where the middle class is paying for the wrong doing of the rich and powerful. He advised that the ordinary man should be allowed to make use of their ATM cards wherever they want to noting that to restrict the use would lead to capital flight to the neighboring countries where Nigerians would be able to freely use their money as they want.

The Senator goes on to proffer various economic steps that the government can take to shore up the Nigerian economy.

These include the restoration of the ban on imported rice so that local production can be promoted. He advocates that government should stop the sponsorship of pilgrimages to Israel and Saudi Arabia. He also wants the use of made in Nigeria vehicles to be encouraged at all levels of government in the country.

Senator Murray-Bruce of the #commonsense advocacy recommends the banning or taxing of luxury goods such as champagne which he notes gulped $110 million in 2014.

He reminded the government that it has no reason to complain about the nation's problems which it has the power to change, noting that only the governed have the luxury of complaining as they await solutions from their leaders.

He then called on the government of President Buhari to lead Nigerians to the promised land as assured Nigerians during their election campaigns.
