WANT TO LIVE LONG? GET THE SECRETS FROM A MAN AS HE CELEBRATES HIS 109 BIRTHDAY IN THE UK

BIRTHDAY BOY GEORGE AND PARTNER STELLA

Yes, you have got to meet Mr. George Higgs who celebrated his 109th birthday yesterday, January 1st having been born in 1907. He had his party at the George Hythe House care home in Leicester, where he now calls home.

George is lucky to have seen and survived 2 world wars in his lifetime, the first at age seven and the Second World War at 32.

At 109 I didn't expect to feel this good says the father of one who is also a great grandfather of two who are based in America. He, however, advises that the secret to a long life is not to get worked up about anything, just don’t worry yourself about anything, just get on with life.

And wait for it, George has a new partner in Stella Fawcett, 92, who not only was on hand to celebrate her man on his big day but has been with George for 15 years now; she says of George “I'm his toy girl”. She added "I think he's wonderful and I wouldn't swap him for the world."

The birthday boy George recalls the World War One vividly and recalls he was seven years old then. He also speaks of the Second World War when he was thirty two years old. George states that he served as a manager at Loughborough in an engineering company after the World War Two and finally retired in 1973.

A senior nurse at the George Hythe House, Vicky Lyons says George is a lovely chap. He's very with it for his age. She adds that "he's a popular man and got lots of friends.

She said the home threw a small party for him with a cake and he received another card from the Queen and noted that George has got quite a few now. Infact the card from the Queen makes it the tenth he has so far received from her and he's building a bit of a collection.

Well there you go, think less, live more. Just live a simple life.
