THE UNITED NATIONS ANNOUNCES THE KILLING OF TWO RWANDAN FEMALE POLICE OFFICERS IN HAITI


UN PEACEKEEPERS IN HAITI

The United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) in the capital, Port Au Prince has released a statement which announced the killing of two female police officers; the dead bodies of the two women from Rwanda, Lillian Mukansonera and Aimee Nyiramudakemwa were discovered in their accommodation located in Cap-Haitien a town in the northern part of Haiti.


The United Nations in its statement said an investigation of the incident was ongoing to know the facts of what happened and all other possible information including their killers. 

The UN secretary-general’s special representative in Haiti who is also the head of MINUSTAH, Sandra HonorĂ©, in the statement offered her condolences to the families of the deceased. 

MINUSTAH, which was set up in 2004, comprises of over 4,500 troops and police who are deployed in Haiti and have a mandate that has evolved over the years starting with the support of a transitional government to the inclusion of earthquake recovery and even the facilitation of the political process in Haiti.
