FORBES RELEASES LIST OF 2015 HIGHEST EARNING FEMALE MUSICIANS, SUPERSTAR RIHANNA’S EARNINGS DROPPED BY 50% IN 2015

RIHANNA

Authoritative US magazine Forbes has reported that the Barbadian music superstar Rihanna, 27, who placed No. 10 on its 2015 annual list of the highest earning women in music, only earned US$26 million in 2015, this is about half of what she made in 2014.

The same Forbes 2015 list has Katy Perry as No. 1 of the highest earning women in music. This is mostly due to her Prismatic World Tour, during the Forbes score rating period from June 1, 2014, to June 1, 2015, which covered 126 shows and deals with Coty, Claire’s and CoverGirl. Perry who is 31, made an estimated US$135 million during the period, to clinch the No. 1 spot.

Forbes said Rihanna’s lower earnings was because she failed to release a full length album for a long time after seven albums in eight years through 2012 and she only played nine dates during the magazine’s scoring period resulting in her less than expected finish on the top earners’ list.

The list placed Taylor Swift, 25 as No. 2 estimating that she earned US$80 million largely credited to the launch of her well received pop album “1989” in October 2014, which made a sale of over 3.6 million copies from its release date.

Coming third on the list is the five-member band Fleetwood Mac, which owed its being on the top earners list because they have two female members on the band, Stevie Nicks and the returning Christine McVie. The Fleetwood Mac made estimated earnings of US$59.5 million, mostly from its tours, to secure the No. 3 spot on the list.

Forbes put the weird dresser; Lady Gaga on its No. 4 spot with estimated earnings of US$59 million, the score period covered 66 of her shows and also her deals with fashion house Versace, Mac cosmetics and included profits she made from her Fame fragrance.

Finally Forbes rated Beyonce with US$54.5 million as No.5 on its list; this was courtesy of her On the Run Tour with her husband Jay Z. The tour which garnered over $100 million covered 19 shows in North America.
