This Tuesday morning, protesters gathered at the National Assembly complex in Abuja to express opposition to the ongoing deliberation on the Social Media Bill proposed by the Senate Majority Leader, Senator Ibn Na'Allah.‎
The civil societies who are vehemently against the bill, have their members attending the protest in the complex.

President Muhammadu Buhari had yesterday ‎through his Senior Special Assistant, Garba Shehu said he would continue to guarantee the freedom of the press as provided in the constitution of Nigeria and that he would not assent to any bill that goes against this provision.‎
There was also a call by the protesters on for the recall of Na’Allah and any other senator backing the passing of the bill into law.‎
Some of the senators, however, advised that those opposed to the bill should try to study it in detail to have an informed opinion before reacting.‎
One senator said the bill was only to curtail frivolous petitions.‎
