SHEHU GARBA |
It
seems the issue of controversy surrounding the production of President
Muhammadu Buhari’s certificate in the build up to the 2015 presidential elections
has not been forgotten as the presidency on Saturday stated that he was badly
treated by some of the military top brass when the last regime was in power. It
would be recalled that contrary to the president’s claim, the military
authorities denied that it was in possession of his West African Examination
Council result.
Making
this known in a Facebook post was the President’s Senior Special Assistant on
Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu, who said the military authority acted in a
shameless manner. Mr. Garba was reacting to critics of the president who
expressed their views in respect of his receipt of vehicles from the
ex-National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
The
presidential spokesman said whatever President Buhari received was his
entitlement as an ex-President, he then went on to state that the military in
particular treated him so badly that its leaders kept silent when the PDP
charged that he didn’t have WAEC papers. He added that a shameless Army Records
officer said the former Head of State had no records at all under their system.
Continuing
Mr. Garba explained that the provision of vehicles to President Buhari by the
past administration now being questioned followed an attempt by armed militants
on the life of the president, he said the then Chief of Army Staff thereafter
considered it necessary to reinstate the armed convoy to protect him. He said when
the two vehicles were brought within a few days of his convoy being bombed; the
president’s staff were only informed that the vehicles were from the Federal
Government in fulfillment of its obligation to him as an ex-President.
Does
this end here?
