America’s President Barack Obama
has announced the selection of Adewale Adeyemo as his Deputy National Security
Adviser for International Economics. News of this appointment was contained in
a statement of the President released by the Office of the Press Secretary of
the White House on December 10, 2015.
In the statement, Obama said he
was grateful that Adewale who he referred to as ‘Wally’ was taking over the
office after working with his administration since 2009 in the Treasury Department.
He noted that Adewale’s earlier contribution included being part of a team
which coordinated America’s response to the global recession and helped to lay
a foundation for renewed growth at home and abroad, aiding in the formation of
the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and acting as point man on a variety
of international economic issues.
President Obama said he was
relying on Wally’s intellect, judgment and dedication to continue to make meaningful
contribution to the sustenance of America’s global economic leadership which
impacts on its national security as America works with her international
partners to create jobs and opportunities.
Adeyemo, 34, until recently a
Deputy Chief of Staff to the Treasury Secretary joined the White House’s
National Economic Council as a Deputy Director. He is originally a Nigerian.
