CASE OF POLYGAMY AN OLD ONE! |
Information has it that the attempt by one Mr.
Ikechukwu Nwoha to contract a second marriage with another lady was thwarted by
his wife who stormed the Christ the King Parish, Enugu venue of the marriage
ceremony with their children where she was heard shouting in the church “I will
not agreeooo. He must kill me first before this wedding. He must
kill me and all my children. He came and married me in my father’s place.
Now, he wants to abandon me and my children and wed another woman in this
church. Where is Fr. Mbaka? Fr. Mbaka comeoo! I know you are a man
of God. I know that you don’t support evil. Come and see this man
doing evil in your church. Come and seeooo. Whoever will support my
husband in this will never see anything good…”
The incident which took place last Saturday
happened after Mr. Nwoha who had married the complainant, Mrs. Nwoha from Benue
State in the traditional way for over nine years, absconded from the marriage
which had produced three children, (one deceased) and resettled in Enugu where
he started a relationship with Miss Juliet Nnenna Edeh, the new bride to be,
claiming to be a bachelor and with who he was now about to exchange marriage vows with.
Mr Nwoha, an indigene of Isikwuato LGA of
Abia State had hidden the fact from Miss Julieth Nnenna Edeh, a native of Niagu-Akpugo
who had no means to know that her would be husband had been married for more
than nine years. The truth of the matter, however, came to light about a month
to the wedding day after a close relative who got to know of the wedding
exposed the plot to wife from Benue.
The proposed marriage ceremony attracted a lot of
guests that Saturday morning and all were shocked when Mrs. Nwoha came before
the church’s altar with the two surviving children. One of the couple’s
children, Nkechi is said to have walked up to her father already set to take
the marriage vows and held his hand and questioned her father’s rational for
abandoning them and getting married to another woman
Mrs. Nwoha seized the occasion of the ensuing
confusion to rush up to her husband Mr. Nwoha and right away started hitting,
biting and clubbing the man all at once. In the course of the melodrama,
the runaway husband was left with a torn wedding coat and shirt while the girl,
with whom he was to get married suddenly and quietly took off from the venue
not to be seen again.
The wedding turned out to be a complete failure
and the supposed new wife, Julieth, who was already heavy with pregnancy, could
not be traced thereafter having left immediately the confusion started.
One only wonders what was the man’s reason for
such an action, could it be that his old wife was the cause of the split of
their union or was it that the man was the person behind his own problem? What
do you think?
