PRESIDENT BUHARI SACKS EFCC BOSS, IBRAHIM LAMORDE

IBRAHIM LAMORDE


The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari today, Monday, November 9, 2015, dismissed the head of the country's anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, after a four year term.

Mr. Lamorde has for some months been facing allegations of the missing of $5bn (£3.3bn) at the Commission, which he has severally denied This allegation was brought before the Senate, one of whose committee has been investigating charges that assets and cash recovered by the EFCC had been diverted.
The Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu said that assistant Police Commissioner Ibrahim Mustafa Magu had been appointed as the EFCC acting commissioner. His statement did not give any reason for Mr. Lamorde’s removal.
