FORMER GOVERNOR IBORI DISASSOCIATES HIMSELF FROM BIAFRA MOVEMENT

JAMES IBORI

The former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori has disassociated himself from the ongoing agitation by some people in Nigeria for breakaway of some part to form the state of Biafra and called on them to stop the use of his picture for their activities.

In a statement released by his Media Assistant Tony Eluemunor, Ibori expressed his belief in the unity of Nigeria and asked that the peace enjoyed in the country 45 years after the civil war should not be disrupted but efforts should be made at national reconciliation and development.
In the statement Ibori makes it clear that he is absolutely, completely and entirely committed to the indissolubility of the Nigerian State, as stipulated unambiguously in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Mr. Ibori further pointed out that a number of other countries like Canada, the United Kingdom and Spain also have agitations some form of autonomy but this such agitations are pursued in a peaceful manner. He called on all to avoid anything that would lead to another national tragedy.
