ARMORED VEHICLE |
A robber camouflaged as a security
guard gave himself an early Christmas present when he on Friday outside the Greektown
Casino in Detroit, USA stole a number of stuffed bags from an armored bullion vehicle
parked by the road side, grossing over $500,000 in the theft, the Detroit police
reports.
The police said a black male wearing
a Loomis Armored security guard shirt approached the armored vehicle parked at
the intersection of Beaubien Street and Monroe Avenue downtown at around 8
a.m. ET, took the bags of money out of the back of the vehicle and took off. It
said no one was hurt, no weapons were brandished and no threats were made in
the incident.
The Assistant Police Chief Steve
Dolunt said FBI had taken over the lead on the investigation
because it seemed to be of a suspicious nature, saying the Detroit police
was working with the FBI on this heist. He added that the video on
the incident was being studied to see how this person escaped.
The FBI spokesperson Jill Washburn
confirmed it is investigating the case but did not give any further comment.
The driver of the armored vehicle is
reported to have thought that the thief was a co-worker because he was
wearing a uniform shirt.
