NEW OBA OF ILE IFE ADEDEYE OGUNWUSI LEAVES SOLITARY CONFINEMENT FOR CROWNING

The new Oba of Ile Ife, Adedeye Ogunwusi yesterday left his solitary confinement at Ilofi Iremo where he had undergone more than 21 days preparatory traditional rites towards his eventual crowning.

The new Ooni would be crowned today in Oodua and as demanded by the Ile Ife tradition, his crowning will be done privately behind closed doors in the palace with only selected persons including some chiefs in attendance.

The traditional preparation over, the monarch who left Ilofi Iremo as early as 5am stopped at important places including his family house to perform some traditional rites on his way to the palace. It was the first day he would be seen by the public who accompanied him with pomp and pageantry. Oba Ogunwusi would today enter the palace for the first time as an Oba for his crowning.

However, there are public activities for his inauguration which start on Monday, November 30, 2015 and finish with the presentation of his staff of office by Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State on Monday, December 7, 2015.
