Dr. Abubakar Sulaiman, former Minister of National Planning delivering a paper on the 2015 power transition in Nigeria at the annual Zik dinner lecture /award in Abuja on Sunday, said ex-President Goodluck Jonathan handed over to President Muhammadu Buhari to save the lives of many Nigerians in the chaos that would have resulted if he had acted otherwise.

The popular Nigerian actor, Ali Nuhu has dispelled rumours that he is dead.

Nuhu 41, was alleged to have been murdered by armed robbers who reportedly attacked him at his residence in Kano.

The Federal High Court of Abuja in Nigeria on Friday struck out the Department of State Services (DSS) application to quash the decision of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in what is popularly known as the “Apo killings case” where operatives of the DSS aka SSS in 2013 stormed a building in Abuja, extra judicially killed no less than 7 keke (tricycle) riders who were squatting there and then alleged that they were Boko Haram insurgents.

CARNIVAL CALABAR 2015 SECOND DRY RUN HELD

The Carnival Calabar 2015 second dry run held today, Saturday, November 28, 2015 in Calabar, Nigeria. This is the build up to the finals of the carnival which comes up next month.

The dry run gives opportunity to both the organizers and participating Carnival Bands, Masta Blasta, Seagull, Passion 4, Bayside and Freedom to test their preparedness for the D day. Whereas rehearsals are held on band basis, the dry run brings all bands together for a joint rehearsal on the carnival route lasting from late morning to night time.

Motorists also get to rehearse the blocking of roads and the use of possible alternative routes during the period of the activity.

Today thus was one of those days and more would come up before the actual carnival day, see a few pictures of today's dry run below:

The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Kogi state named Yahaya Bello on Saturday as the person to replace the late Prince Abubakar Audu as the governorship candidate of the party in the state. This was announced by the party’s national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. Yahaya came second in the primaries that produced Audu.

A Dutchman Leonardus Bijlsma, 55 has been found guilty of bringing drugs worth about £1.6bn into the United Kingdom using fake ambulances and paramedics, as well as bogus patients on crutches.
The police said the man was the right hand man in a gang that smuggled the drugs across the Channel and delivered it to organized crime groups. The police reportedly found 193kg of cocaine, 74kg of heroin, 20,000 ecstasy tablets and 2kg of MDMA crystal worth £38m stash hidden behind panels, in cupboards and under the floor of one of the ambulance on 16 June.
