There are certainly many times when one is proud to be a Nigerian and this is one of such when one reads of the four young Nigerian girls who went to the United States of America without any fanfare to present an app (application) they built in the 2015 Technovation Challenge. The girls contested as Team Charis (TEAM Nigeria) and emerged winners in the competition which held in San Francisco, USA in July and had entries from all over the world.
The winning team is made of Praise David-Oku, Sonam Kumar, Nmesoma Ogbonna, and Grace Akpoiroro and their creation; a mobile app that can be used to solve the waste disposal challenge in Nigeria. They entered their winning app called Discardious in the competition.

Professor Jonah Onuoha, Head of Department of Political Science of the University of Nigeria (UNN) has been suspended by the school authorities for sending two postgraduate students and an unidentified man to beat up a lecturer in the department, Ben Nwosu. Prof. Onuoha is also to receive half pay of his salary during the period of the suspension, which would last till the matter is fully investigated and a decision taken.

Nigerian Customs officials have seized a bus sculpture made in London by Sokari Douglas Camp in memory of the late Nigerian environmentalist Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight other activists. The steel bus was denied entry into the country when it arrived the Lagos port on September 8, 2015 intended to be a gift to mark the 20th anniversary of their execution by the Sani Abacha military government.
