A lady, Faye Rodgers-Harris aged 40 years, from Solihui, England has had 12 LITRES of fat sucked from her legs through liposuction in order to reduce her thighs measuring 36 inches.
Faye, who has had a weight issue for more than 30 years, had the operation after a gastric band insertion helped her to loose ten stone from her weight of 23 stone but did not reduce the size of her thighs. She said her legs were so big they would rub together from the top of the inner thigh down to the knee, causing her great discomfort and sores which bleed.
She said she became deeply depressed about her appearance, particularly her arms and legs, and in turn she gained more and more weight until she got to almost 23 stone. She stated that at a stage her legs were 36 inches, the same size as her husband’s waist.
She said no matter what she did they just seemed to get fatter. However, her life was transformed when she was finally diagnosed with lipoedema; a condition which piles fat onto the legs and arms.
Faye turned to consultant plastic surgeon Miss Anne Dancey to have 5lbs of excess skin removed following her weight loss procedure and is now a size 16 and weighs 13-and a half stone.
She says her husband, Richard watched her confidence grow as her body shrank and was a constant support all through it, she says she could not have done it without him adding that for the first time in years she was happy and contented with the way she looked.
Miss Dancey stated that Lipoedema is a condition which causes the legs, and sometimes the arms, to accumulate excess fatty tissue. She said it occurs in women of all sizes, from the seriously underweight to the morbidly obese but, unlike normal fat, lipoedematous fat cannot be lost through diet and exercise.
