NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT ORDERS FREE SUPPLY OF PETROL TO MOTORISTS FROM ERRANT FUEL STATIONS

The newly sworn in Nigerian Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr. Emmanuel Ike Kachikwu has directed the Ministry of Petroleum.s Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) to dispense fuel free of charge to motorists at all fuel stations found to be hoarding fuel in the nation's capital, Abuja.


He noted that the hoarding was causing a false scarcity and the masses were suffering untold hardship. He stated that all  marketers found to be involved in hoarding petroleum products would be sanctioned. He said fuel stations had also been requested to offer 24 hours service so as to reverse the ugly situation.


Dr. Kachikwu assured Nigerians that there was enough petroleum products in stock. He noted that there were issues such as oil pipelines, release of petroleum subsidy, etc. affecting the steady supply of fuel nationwide but he said they were being resolved. He also stated that there was no plan to reduce the price of petrol.

The minister and some staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) went on a monitoring tour of the fuel stations in Abuja.
