STARTING THE NEW YEAR AFRESH: NIGERIAN MUSIC STARS DON JAZZY & OLAMIDE RESOLVE HEADIES AWARD RIFT

ALL IS WELL

DON JAZZY & OLAMIDE
In what would be termed a quick resolution, Don Jazzy the maverick boss of the Mavins Record label and the owner of the YBNL label Olamide Adedeji, have made up after their controversial outburst in the recently held 2015 Headies Award ceremony which held in Lagos, Nigeria. They have even gone ahead to release a joint apology to the organizers of the Headies Awards and to their fans.

The rift caused by the award of the Next Rated Artiste title to Reekado Banks of the Mavins group for his Katapot track, which was opposed by Olamide when he mounted the stage with one of his label’s stars, Adekunle Gold who won the Best Alternative Act for Shade. Olamide questioned the organizers choice for not giving that award to his protege, Lil Kesh and went on to say more unsavory things before storming off the stage.

Thereafter, when Don Jazzy went upstage with his whole crew to receive his Special Recognition Awards also took on Olamide for the comments he had earlier made and ended by saying “Egbon Olamide, if you want the car, come and take it.” This was in reference to the car which comes with the Next Rated Award. Don Jazzy even went on to inform Olamide that he had already promised to buy cars for his acts Reekado Banks and Korode Bello before the Headies.

The confrontation between Olamide and Don Jazzy continued their battle on social media with other musicians and even fans weighing in to take sides with their favorite in the war of words.
Well, this is all over as they made up and peace returns to the music world, after all its anew year. Let’s hope this peace trickles down to the other artistes who took part in the war and of course the fans.
