The News Agency of Nigeria reports
that a 24 year old male, Ibrahim Kabo who is facing drug peddling charges
before the Abuja Federal High Court on Thursday pleaded guilty to the charges
brought against him.
Addressing the court headed by Justice
Gabriel Kolawole, the prosecution’s representative Mr. Mike Kassa said Kabo was
brought before the Federal High Court on a two count charge in respect of the
possession of illegal drugs by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency
(NDLEA).
Mr. Mike Kassa stated that the
offence was committed by the suspect in Karu, Abuja on October 15, 2015 when he
was found with 4.3 grammes of cocaine and the act contravened Section 11(c) of
the NDLEA Act 2004. He added that Karu was within the jurisdiction of the
court.
Addressing the court, the
prosecution said “the suspect thereby committed an offence contrary to and
punishable under section 11 (c) of NDLEA Act 2004.”
In a surprise move, however, the
accused pleaded guilty to the charge before the court, meanwhile in view of his
plea, the prosecution urged the court to fix a date for review of the facts of
the case and sentencing of the accused.
The case was adjourned till March 7
by Justice Kolawole for the sentencing of the accused in view of his guilty plea.
