NIGERIA: KIDNAPPERS ABDUCT APC’S ONDO GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRANT IN ABUJA

VICTOR OLABINTAN

All is not going well for the All Progressives Congress (APC) for now, over the weekend it was not successful in the governorship elections that held in Bayelsa state and now it has to contend with another governorship issue in Ondo state.

Today, one of APC’s gubernatorial aspirants for the Ondo state 2016 governorship election, Victor Olabintan, who was also the former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly was allegedly kidnapped in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.

It is reported that the Secretary of the Olabintan Campaign Organization, Gboyega Ajayi, made this known while speaking on phone to journalists, he stated that Olabintan was kidnapped by unknown men as he was traveling from Akure, the capital of Ondo state to Abuja.

Ajayi said the kidnappers posed as soldiers at a fake checkpoint at Kwali, a Local Government Area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and stopped the vehicle conveying Olabintan purportedly for a search only to turn around to abduct him.

Olabintan was kidnapped barely 2 days after he made his declaration public by announcing his intention to contest for the APC governorship primaries in Ondo state. Olabintan had in the past contested in the primaries for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ondo state Governorship candidate election.

The statement from Ajayi confirmed that the FCT police command is on the search for Olabintan’s kidnappers.

The APC seems to be passing through the same political track that existed before, what of the promised change?
