SIAN BLAKE AND HER SONS |
ARTHUR SIMPSON-KENT |
Reports have it that a Magistrate court in Accra,
capital of Ghana has ordered that British citizen, Arthur Simpson-Kent be remanded
in police custody on his alleged murder of his girlfriend, British actress Sian
Blake and her two children in the UK before his escape to Ghana.
Justice Rosemond Agyirie making the order
directed also that while the suspect was in the police custody he should be
allowed to have free and unlimited access to his legal representatives.
The lawyer to the suspect, however, raised an
objection to the ruling, averring that the order for his remand was made in
error as his client should not have been detained further without a formal
charge being brought against him. He stated that the rightful legal procedure
for extradition as provided for under the law in Ghana was not adhered to and
demanded that his client be released immediately. He said this position would
be argued on the adjourned date, January 26, 2016.
It would be recalled that Arthur Simpson-Kent is
alleged to have murdered the former EastEnders actress, Sian Blake and her two
sons who were first declared missing only for their bodies to be later
discovered buried within the premises of her apartment. Arthur after being
questioned about the incident later escaped to Ghana in West Africa where he
was arrested a few days after his arrival.
For now it seems neither the London Metropolitan
police or the British government has made any formal request for the
extradition of Mr. Simpson-Kent for the alleged murder which took place in
London.
However, the matter comes up before the court on
the January 26 adjourned date and the above position may have changed by then
with a formal extradition request being received and the process begun to get
justice served.
