Chief Magistrate Igho Braimoh of the Egor Chief Magistrate’s Court in Benin has remanded Adizat Owhe-Akere, 43, a house wife and Juliet Omozuefo, 23, in prison custody for allegedly killing one John Owhe-Akere, husband of the first accused by stabbing him.

The police prosecutor, Corporal Ogundele Oluwale, informed the court that the accused persons who pleaded not guilty killed the deceased on October 23, 2015, at 23 Upper Siluko Road, Benin.

He said Omozuefo conspired with Adizat and unlawfully killed Owhe-Akere by stabbing he with a knife on his chest which led to his death, an offence which contravened sections 324 and 319 (1) of the Criminal Code. He stated that a conviction for conspiracy to murder attracted a 14 prison term while a conviction for murder resulted in a death sentenced.

The Chief Magistrate after the plea by the accused adjourned the matter to February 19, 2016 and directed that the case file should be sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
