Chief Magistrate Igho Braimoh of the Egor Chief
Magistrate’s Court in Benin has remanded Adizat Owhe-Akere, 43, a house wife and
Juliet Omozuefo, 23, in prison custody for allegedly killing one John
Owhe-Akere, husband of the first accused by stabbing him.
The police prosecutor, Corporal Ogundele Oluwale,
informed the court that the accused persons who pleaded not guilty killed the
deceased on October 23, 2015, at 23 Upper Siluko Road, Benin.
He said Omozuefo conspired with Adizat and unlawfully
killed Owhe-Akere by stabbing he with a knife on his chest which led to his death,
an offence which contravened sections 324 and 319 (1) of the Criminal Code. He
stated that a conviction for conspiracy to murder attracted a 14 prison term
while a conviction for murder resulted in a death sentenced.
The Chief Magistrate after the plea by the
accused adjourned the matter to February 19, 2016 and directed that the case
file should be sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal
advice.
