The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, his vice,
Yemi Osinbajo, the Senate president Bukola Saraki, House deputy Speaker, Hon.
Lasun Yusuf and many state governors would today be at Ile-Ife, the cradle of
Yorubaland for the presentation of staff of office to the newly installed Ooni
of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11 by the governor of Osun state,
Rauf Aregbesola.
Reports state that also expected at the event are
the representative of the Queen of England, royal fathers across the country, ministers,
national and state assembly members, diplomats, top level government personnel
and business men.
The community is said to be agog with activities
in preparation for the event even as receptions are being planned for the
dignitaries coming for the occasion. Also in a statement made in respect of the
presentation, the senator representing Osun West senatorial district and former
governor of Osun state, Senator Isiaka Adeleke has called on Oba Ogunwusi to
build bridges of unity, love and progress across the Yoruba nation and Nigeria.
In the statement he noted that “More than ever
before, this is the time for Ife and indeed the Yoruba nation, to live together
in unity, peace and concord, so as to be the true custodians of our collective
heritage”.
It would be recalled that the new Oba was
selected by the traditional institution following the demise of his predecessor,
Oba Sijuwade.
