NIGERIA: DRUG AGENCY APPREHENDS SUSPECTS WITH N35M ILLEGAL DRUGS HIDDEN IN BISCUITS & CHEESE BALLS

THE TWO SUSPECTS

Report have it that the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Ogun State, Nigeria have arrested two suspected drug peddlers who attempted to sell 295 bags of cannabis estimated at N35m.
The suspects, Ihenacho Chinweuba, 27 and 33-year-old Uche Enuosa, who were nabbed on Monday while transporting the narcotic to parts of the Ogun and Lagos states for sale when the NDLEA arrested them in the Ijebu Igbo area with a truck loaded with bags of the drug which were covered with cartons of biscuits to
disguise their content. Luck was not on their side, however, as the NDLEA caught them based on a tip-off.
The suspects later confessed to the crime, stating that they got involved in order to make a living, adding that they also wanted to make some money for the Christmas for their families.‎‎
Speaking on the incident, the NDLEA Commander in Ogun State, Mr. Bala Fagge, confirmed the arrest of the suspects and said the truck and the drugs had been confiscated.‎ He also informed the press that “the suspects would be charged to court and if convicted were liable to life imprisonment.”

He reported how the suspects were apprehended in a white Mercedes truck with registration number Lagos KJA 132 XN at the Ijebu Igbo area of Ogun State conveying biscuits and cheese balls but on inspection it was discovered to also contain 295 bags of dried cannabis sativa weighing 3,542.2 kg.

The NDLEA reacting through its acting Chairman, Mrs. Roli Bode-George said the Agency was assuring the public that measures had been put in place to check the illegal drug business in the country.
