A petrol tanker belonging to Forte
Oil this early this Saturday morning fell off the Ojuelegba bridge in Lagos,
Nigeria at the Barracks bus stop and burst into flames.
Eye witnesses say the petrol tanker which
was fully loaded exploded upon impact with the ground and the resultant
fire spread through the canal and into the surrounding area. The fire also
engulfed a building.
The Randle General Hospital in Surulere which
is beside the building that got burnt had its patients evacuated to safety.
Luckily, the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday when the area was
not crowded as it usually is.
Reactions to the fire included annoyance
with the reoccurrence of tanker accidents to indifference due to the hoarding
of fuel by marketers. However, all expressed concern that no life was lost in
