ELECTION OF SENATOR GODSWILL AKPABIO, MINORITY LEADER OF NIGERIA'S SENATE UPHELD BY APPEAL COURT

The election of the Senate minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio as the senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial district has been upheld by the Court of Appeal. The former two term governor of Akwa Ibom State in his reaction to the judgment twitted “my election has just been upheld by the Court of Appeal. Thank you Nigerians.” at about 12 noon today.


The Federal Court of Appeal’s judgment was in the matter brought before it by Inibehe Okori of the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the election of Senator Akpabio on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Various persons have begun to congratulate Senator Godswill Akpabio on his victory at the Court of Appeal.
