NIGERIA POLICE TO FIGHT MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT NATIONWIDE WITH NEW DATABASE

The Nigeria Police has announced that it has recently acquired a comprehensive motor vehicle database for all vehicles in Nigeria for use on its website.

The Police authorities state that this database would help to fight the crime of car stealing in the country. The database enables the police network nationwide to be immediately alerted when a car is stolen as the owner only has to submit the vital details of the car like the owner's details, the car's registration plate
number, the car's engine and chassis number, etc. The police would then use these details to search for the car simultaneously across the country.

Intending buyers of cars, especially second hand vehicles are also advised to check this database before the purchase to avoid buying stolen cars.

It is expected that this innovation would greatly reduce the incidence of car stealing and eventually stop it.

The service is supposed to commence soon. Please watch out for details.
